The Beginning of our Story:-
The Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited, popularly called MILKFED, was created in 1973 to raise milk farming in the nation. The main aim of this Federation was going to supply a more remunerative market to the milk producers from the country value addition and efficient marketing of their produce. Another goal was to offer technical inputs to the milk producers such as improvement of milk production.
Even though the federation was enrolled much sooner, it required its present larger function, in the calendar year 1983 when most of the plants of this erstwhile Punjab Dairy Development Corporation Limited were passed to Cooperative industry under Operation Flood. This movement was directed at providing the farmers with a much better price and the clients better products. The company set up follows a 3 tier program: Milk Producers Cooperative Societies at the village level, Milk Unions at District level and Federation within an Apex Body at State level.
MILKFED Punjab has always improved towards its enviable goals well defined in its own bylaws.
Presently, Verka resources milk by over 3,50,000 associates of about 6300 village milk producers' cooperative societies. All these village-level cooperatives operate under 11 district milk manufacturers' marriages with 9 milk crops using a combined milk handling capability of about 20,00,000 litres every day. Every Verka merchandise is that the manifestation of pure goodness unlocked by embracing state of the art technologies.
Verka pays the remunerative cost of 586/per pound of fat to the milk manufacturers.
